I guess it's been about a year or so ago now since I fell in love with Loretta. Yes, of course, I always knew "of her" and knew she was a "legend in country music", but I didn't really know any of her songs....that was until Garrett made me watch the movie "Coal Miners Daughter".....and after that, I was a HUGE fan. The movie was a biography of Loretta Lynn, a country and western singer that came from poverty to fame. If you like country music and haven't watched it, then you def. need to. She's known to be the first woman in country music.
Well, this past Valentine's Day, Garrett got us tickets to not just go see her in concert, but to go see her in concert on her RANCH!!!! Her ranch is in Hurricane Mills, TN (aka = middle of no where). But apparently this is one of the most visited attractions in the state of Tennessee. It was such a great experience. We got there early so we could go on a tour of Loretta’s Plantation Home, Butcher Holler (a replica of her home in Kentucky where she grew up) & a Simulated Coal Mine (a replica of the coal mine her daddy worked in).
Ok, I'm gonna go ahead and warn you, there are a LOT of pictures in this post. I really did try to only pick out the good ones...but there were so many good photos to choose from and I just couldn't leave any of these out.
So here we go...here's my Loretta Lynn experience from this past weekend:
Us in front of her plantation home. |
Isn't it beautiful? |
Getting ready for our tour!!!! |
A replica of Butcher Holler, the house that Loretta grew up in, in Kentucky. |
A replica of her daddy's coal mine. |
Getting ready to go inside of her plantation. :) |
Side view of her house. |
Another side view...her yard was absolutely beautiful. |
View from her front door. |
Leaving her driveway...Adios! |
Now....onto her museum...they wouldn't allow us to take pictures inside though...booooo! |
Her museum was amazing. It was a self guided tour. Loretta has a HUGE collection of memorabilia and awards from her career as well as mementos from many beloved friends in the World of Entertainment. Needless to say, after we were finished with this tour, I really felt like I knew her.
Ok, now on to the CONCERT!!!!!
YAY!!!!! |
We are so excited!!!!!! |
The concert was held in one of her barns. |
Loretta's twin daughters, Patsy and Peggy opened for her...along with 4 of Patsy's children. They all did amazing and it was really neat to see Loretta's children and grandchildren caring on her talent. |
This is Patsy's son playing a song he wrote for a girl he liked at school. How sweet. |
This is one of Patsy's daughters, Emmy. She is only 13 years old. She sang 2 Miranda Lamberts songs and she was phenomenal!!!!! I def. see a star in the making with this one. |
And here she is ladies and gentlemen...Mrs.LORETTA LYNN!!!!!!! |
Bless her heart, she had just had knee surgery so she had to sit down the entire time, but that didn't stop the way she sang. She sounded amazing. |
She didn't have a play list or anything, she just told us to start requesting songs and she'd sing them. |
She's was so precious. She'd just talk and sing to us like we were good ole friends that came over to visit and have a good time. |
She ended the concert singing, of course, 'Coal Miners Daughter'. |
I still cannot believe I saw her in person. |
Bye Loretta!!!!!! You were AMAZING!!!!!!!!! |
What a great Valentine's gift...thanks Garrett. :) Are any of you Loretta fans???? Have any of you ever been to one of her concerts or been out to her ranch?
